Who told you knitting was for octogenarians? Local designer Karelle Levy is throwing that idea on its head by producing unique, colorful pieces that are anything but that sweater your granny gave you for Christmas ’88. One look at Levy's hooked-up confections and you won't dare think some bespectacled bitty created it. Now you can learn how to wield a needle like a pro and create some pieces of your own at Levy’s weekly yarn throwdown, Stitchin’ Boozin’ Bitches. You bring the supplies (a starter kit from any craft shop will do), and the rest will fall into place. Well, not exactly — you'll need some instruction. But that's half the fun! The other half is the company: a cadre of giggling guys and girls ready to create their next club outfit or potholder. Just promise to make us something that will hold our liquor. Meet up with the other bitches this Monday from 8 p.m. to midnight in the Living Room of the Standard Hotel.
