A Reason for You to Wine

Still hung over from the last citywide smorgasbord of Sauvignon Blanc and seared scallops? There’s no time to recuperate — you’re better off treating the Miami Food and Wine Festival as the hair of the dog and keeping the party going. From this Thursday through Saturday, a menagerie of local restaurants will feed you until you have to discreetly loosen that top button. Among the restaurants feeding your gluttonous habits will be Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, North One Ten, Two Chefs, and Tarpon Bend. On Thursday, beginning at 7 p.m., patrons will savor a walk-around tasting with 30 eateries and 65 global wineries including Ste. Michelle Wine Estates, Rodney Strong Vineyards, and Piper-Heidsieck Champagne. On Friday, starting at 7:30 p.m., DJ chef Michael Schwartz will spin an interactive presentation while guests cook their own dinners. And on Saturday, beginning at 7 p.m., there’ll be a live auction. Proceeds from all three days will benefit the United Way of Miami. On Sunday, well, bar’s closed.
April 23-25, 6 p.m., 2009
