"I don't care who I piss off," Daddy Yankee spat at a New York Post interviewer last year. "This is about my ideals, not about making friends.” We love a man with conviction, but he wasn’t exactly defending his most heinous offense: the ambiguously raunchy lyrics of his 2004 megahit, “Gasolina.” The Latino music star was telling left-wing losers to kiss off because he was casting a vote for the man who calls himself a maverick, former presidential candidate John McCain. “Senator McCain is the kind of man whose promises you can actually believe in," Yankee gushed.

Tonight at the James L. Knight Center scream, faint, and sing along to tunes about el barrio, las mamis, and even a little blin blin, but don’t expect any of the political commentary he caught hell for last August. As one of the most successful Latin artists to date, he doesn’t have to explain his beliefs, but he is sure to put on a performance that will keep you on your feet.
