You won't hear his cinched beats and dub fringes unfurl through the radio (unless, that is, you live in a tech-house fantasy land). But it would seem he's been a slave to the mixing board, based on the number of tracks tagged with his name in the past few years. We're talking about Berlin-based UK expat Matt Edwards, AKA Rekid, or Radio Slave, or one half of Quiet Village. Launching his own productions and imprint almost five years ago, and contributing remixes for several years prior to that, Edwards has redirected almost two decades of DJ gig-geared re-edits into a mastery of long-form, intricately notched jackin'.

More About
Techno would seem the least subtle of music. Find riff, lock groove, repeat. But Edwards is a classic minimalist, concentrating on restraint and resonance, not so much doing something as allowing nuance to condense. And it does just that, as his chord-stabbed, sonar-drenched tracks find a riff, lock into a groove, and breathe.
