Duel of the Guards

Who will be the last man standing, um, dribbling?

The Minnesota Timberwolves no longer have Kevin Garnett — if you remember, they gave him away to the Celtics for a Larry Bird-autographed back brace and some duty-free aperitif — but they do have feisty former Villanova standout Randy Foye. When the Miami Heat met the T-Wolves three weeks ago, Foye proved almost too much to handle for our team. With 29 points and eight assists, the second-year guard went toe-to-toe with Dwyane Wade in a duel that came down to the final moments of the game. Foye was all over Wade, putting pressure on him, forcing him to pass the ball to his struggling Heat teammates, and going 12 for 21 offensively. But, as is usually the case, D-Wade had the final say. Wade had a pedestrian night on the floor but made the majority of his 31 points at the stripe. With the Heat leading 99-96 in the closing seconds, Foye had a clear shot to take the lead, but Wade swatted away the layup attempt to ice the game. Expect another entertaining bout this Wednesday night when Miami hosts the T-Wolves at the American Airlines Arena.
