Forget Stocking Stuffing

Meet Jewish singles and mingle at the Matzo Ball.

’Twas the night before Christmas when all through South Beach, all the young Jews were dancing and no one could kvetch. The outfits were chosen with the greatest of care, in hopes that a nice Jewish mate would soon be there. Yeah, all the Gentiles always figure the Jews spend Christmas Eve sad and alone watching Seinfeld reruns in their dreidel-print pajamas, eating leftover latkes while tearfully humming that South Park song "Just a Jew on Christmas." Not the case. For the 20th year straight, local Jewish professionals between the ages of 21 and 49 will be at the Matzo Ball<?b>, exchanging bell jingling for single mingling.

Put on by the Society of Young Jewish Professionals, the event hopes to bring people together and make a few of Bubbe's dreams come true by connecting some nice young Jewish couples. In fact the ball claims responsibility for more than 1,000 marriages. The Matzo Ball takes place in nearly two dozen cities, and Miami's celebration will happen at Cameo. Doors open at 9 p.m. and won't close until 4 a.m. Entrance is $30. For advance tickets and more information, visit www.matzoball.org.
