When your father is the rebel in the family, what’s a young girl to do? For Marissa Chibas, the answer was to exorcize the demons of the Cuban revolution by relating the tale of three towering figures in her life through a provocative narrative of political treachery, personal tragedy, and exile in the history of one of the island’s most notable families. The theatrical performer’s story, Daughter of a Cuban Revolutionary, centers on her father, Raul Chibas, who co-authored the manifesto for the Cuban revolution with Castro, only to become persecuted and chased from his homeland when he broke with the dictator.

She also reflects on her uncle Eduardo Chibas — a reformist frontrunner for the Cuban presidency in 1951 who committed suicide during a live radio broadcast — and her mother, Dalia, a Miss Cuba runnerup in 1959. Chibas portrays her gripping tale this Saturday at 8 p.m. as part of the Cultura del Lobo Series at the William & Joan Lehman Theater at Miami Dade College North Campus.
