Reach Out and Touch

Put your Hands On Miami and give back to the community.

Whether or not you agree with the Fed’s strategy to bail out Wall Street, you must admire the charitable nature of the move. We could all stand to throw a few dollars to our fellow man, but with a few less zeros. Local group Hands On Miami gives back to our community on the regular, and for the organization’s flagship event, Hands On Miami Day 2008, it will help out in epic proportions. This Saturday everyone is invited to join forces with nonprofits and community groups for environmental cleanups, landscaping, renovations, and painting murals across Miami-Dade.

Each volunteer must submit a $20 donation, a small fee for a year-round commitment to the Magic City’s wellness. To lend a hand, visit www.handsonmiami.org and choose from dozens of projects. Whether you’re passionate about cats, the arts, or spiritual enlightenment, there’s a job for you to tackle. Check-in and a Starbucks-sponsored breakfast begin at 8:15 a.m., and your philanthropy jumps off at 9.
