Weve noticed an increasing number of fabulous ladies-night-out events taking place around town, and Miamis men are getting jealous. Why should women be the only ones feted with complimentary cocktails and sample-filled gift bags at these after-work events? Heres why: Most are totally about shopping. Weve whizzed through them all Gen Art, Sheckys, Splurge and noticed that the lack of dudes can be directly correlated to the degree of dude-related entertainment. More specifically: If there are hot chicks sashaying down a runway in next to nothing, male significant others wont mind tagging along. And while theyre distracted staring at professional catwalkers, you can snag what youve been aching for that hot new purse from the fresh local designer. So in that spirit, we offer up an event that will appeal to both sexes.
Unzipped, which Miami New Times debuted this past August, will pair with Thread, which has been an annual treat for West Coast fashionistas since 2003. This years shopping extravaganza promises 100 designers offering discounts as steep as 80 percent off. You can get your shop on from 4 to 8 p.m. Then the fun kicks into high gear with Unzipped, a fashion show featuring hot clothes by acclaimed local fashion innovators KRELwear, Art of Shade, Nazly Villamizar, Lorie Lester Miami, and Rucht DOleo. The cocktails flow at 4 p.m., the runway show takes over at 9, and when thats done, we all party. Um, will there be gift bags? Yes, honey and theyll be fabulous. Score! Its going down at Soho Studios.
