Is it any surprise that our favorite verse of the classic Geto Boys hip-hop song My Mind Playin Tricks on Me belongs to Bushwick Bill? Although the diminutive rappers verse turns out to be just a disturbing illusion, we still get excited when we hear someone say, This year, Halloween fell on a weekend. Because we know that Halloween on a Friday night means spooky debauchery well into the early morning, with days of near-catatonic recovery time to propel you ever forward. So where will you and your hood rats go trick-or-treating? We have some suggestions.
The Monsters Ball will be going down at Karma (7010 Biscayne Blvd, Miami). It begins at 8 p.m., but you might want to get there later on for art installations, a haunted house, and live performances by Animals of the Arctic, This Heart Electric, and The Continental Duo. Touted as the be-all and end-all of Halloween events, this is the costume ball where Miamis finest don their most fantastic disguises. Take the elevator to the 55th floor, enter the Havana Club (200 S. Biscayne Blvd., Ste. 5500, Miami), and get down to DJ Erok in the main room and DJ Ariel Assault in the red room. If you prefer your All Hallow's Eve to have a charitable component, do the time warp at the third annual Rocky Horror Picture Show Halloween fundraiser, benefiting environmental group ECOMB, at the Colony Theater (1040 Lincoln Rd., Miami Beach).
