Bring Miami Spice to Your Rack

But don’t burp — it’s rude.

Miami Spice Restaurant Month is a time when frugal foodies get to dine at restaurants such as Ortanique on the Mile and Table 8 for prices that rival T.G.I.Friday’s and Chili’s. But if you’re like us, after paying for parking and filling up the ol’ gas tank, you still couldn’t afford to go out even if they gave the food away. Then again, it’s not much fun to order just bread and water. Luckily, Macy’s Cooking School is offering a Spice-y alternative and showing you how to do this, son! During the monthlong Miami Spice Cooking School, chefs from some of the finest restaurants will show you how to DIY.

Chefs Edgar Leal, from Cacao Restaurant, and Pietro Rota, from La Marea, will be at Dadeland (7675 N. Kendall Dr., Miami) and Aventura malls (19535 Biscayne Blvd., Aventura) this Saturday to give cooking demos for the masses. Beginning at 1 p.m., you’ll learn how to create meals that will make your family swoon, and it’s free. For a complete list of upcoming demonstrations, call 305-577-2296.
