The Bruthaz Are Out

And they’re taking over South Beach!

Many a drunken straight man has stumbled out of SoBe’s 11th Street Diner and found himself in gay man (and their hags) paradise, also referred to as Twist nightclub. But once you’re inside, the hypnotic thump of electronic music paired with oodles and oodles of visual stimulation can make anyone forget about the club’s sexual orientation — until you see Calvin Klein model-types smooching Adam’s appled dudes, that is. This weekend, Miami Beach Bruthaz hits our pretty city, and the infamous institution will surely see more gay Latino and black men than it’s used to.

As one of the world’s largest multicultural pride events, it will draw thousands with the promise of a Papi Underwear Fashion Show, a male model search, parties, parties, and more parties. Sure, the weekend will be full of fun and more six-packs than a Kwik-E-Mart, but it’s also about networking with GLBT-friendly businesses and learning the nuances of fashion and culture at the workshops. Still, we must admit we’re kinda sorta really looking forward to seeing cutie Marcus Foy from The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency. Kick the weekend off with the social mixer at 9 p.m. at the Bentley Beach Hotel, and cross your fingers he’ll show up. A cool $150 will buy you a full weekend pass and access to all the events.
