What are the brilliant minds at the Miami Science Museum thinking? By day, the educational institute features family-friendly offerings such as Lizard Day and the ongoing “Dinosaurs of China” exhibit. By night, it transforms into an adult-pleasing spot via the monthly Fabulous First Friday shows as well as regularly scheduled planetarium laser shows that have been bringing stoners, potheads, ’shroom eaters, and um, other laser light enthusiasts to the museum since the Seventies. We’re not sure what diabolical minds schedule these things, but we like how they think.

Dude, check it out. The fun kicks off at 9 p.m. with a visual tribute to the Beatles’ trippiest album, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Ever listen to “Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite” — on weed? Thought so. Then the planetarium ratchets things up a notch with a 10 p.m. Jimi Hendrix show. Killer. “Are You Experienced?” Yes indeed. At 11 p.m., there’s a frickin’ Bob Marley laser beam experience, and the whole shebang culminates with a tribute to Pink Floyd’s Animals at midnight, by which time you’ll probably be passed out on the floor. Sounds like an excellent Friday, right? Adult admission is seven bucks, and that includes laser glasses to shield your bloodshot eyes.
