The No-Offense Blues

Miami FC needs to start scoring some goals to stay in the race.

Miami FC Blues sit in eighth place in the United Soccer League standings. They’re 10 points behind first-place Vancouver, but only four points behind sixth-place Carolina. This means sixth place is within reach. And that sure as shit beats being in eighth place. Hey, glass half full and all that. The key is continued stellar play by striker Alex Afonso. With six goals on the season, he has been a goal-scoring machine for Miami. The rest of his teammates — well, less automated. Having only one scoring threat could pose problems down the stretch, seeing as the object of soccer is to score more goals than the opponent.

When they last met, the Carolina Railhawks defeated Miami 1-0, keeping the Blues winless at home. So Saturday the Blues have a shot at both moving up and revenge. All they have to do is win a damn home game. And score some goals. Game time is 7:30 p.m. at Tropical Park Stadium. Tickets range from $10 to $25 and are available through www.miamifc.com.
