More About

If you thought the Saturday-afternoon drag show at The Palace was gay, you ain't seen nothing yet. The Miami Gay Men's Chorus takes to the stage with its latest production, By the Sword: a Salute to the Armed Forces, and it doesn't get any gayer than this.

By the Sword features a collection of songs that salute the many generations of Americans who fought for this big, beautiful country. Songs include everything from Frank Wildhorn's "The Civil War" to popular big-band standards from World War II. They’ll round things out with some tunes from Miss Saigon and Hair. And in case you accidentally lose yourself in the music and forget where you are, a few chorus members will occasionally jump off the risers and dance a bit with some jazz-hands-infused choreography, proving once again that when they say “gay men's chorus,” they really, really mean it. See the final show of the weekend at 3 p.m. at the Colony Theater, 1040 Lincoln Rd., Miami Beach. Call 305-604-8787, or visit www.miamigaychorus.org for a rundown of this weekend’s showtimes.
