South Beach sizzles through your camera lens.

If you think playing cameraman at a six-year-old’s sugar-saturated birthday party is difficult, try racing around South Beach pointing, shooting, and clicking in pursuit of cash and prizes. Although you might spend today doing the former, scores of amateur and professional photographers will be doing the more adventurous latter for the fourth annual South Beach Photomarathon. The start gun sounds at 10 a.m. at Miami Beach Botanical Garden (2000 Convention Center Dr., Miami Beach), and entrants will take off on a virtual scavenger hunt, rushing from stop to stop in search of the perfect shot. Visit www.fotomission.org for rules, registration, and an itinerary.

If one of the contest’s qualifications is “sexy,” get a head start at the Ritz-Carlton South Beach (1 Lincoln Rd., Miami Beach), where the luxe hotel will be holding a search for a new tanning butler. Yes, a panel of five experts — including movie star Vivica A. Fox — will be choosing a new guy to slather you in SPF at your command. Applicants must be outgoing, professional, and hot, with sun-resistant skin. Spectators must be ready for whatever. The casting takes place from noon to 4 p.m. Call 786-276-4000.
