Gorging in the Gables

Even when you’re as bloated as a beached jellyfish, you will still find yourself sprinting slightly and weaving drunkenly between the more than 30 tables of tasty fare at the Coral Gables Wine & Food Festival this evening. After all, you must make the best of the two hours allotted to gorge yourself on everything from Zinfandel wines to unpronounceable Thai dishes provided by Bangkok Bangkok and delicate slices from Archie’s Gourmet Pizza.

When you have lurched to the very last vendor, head to the casino booth for a victory gamble. As we all know, gambling and wine mix beautifully -- at least until the next morning, when you wake up next to shredded credit cards and a woman named Candy. The fest will take place along the Gables’ restaurant row, on the 100 block of Giralda Avenue, between Ponce de Leon Boulevard and Galiano Street. The street festival runs from 7 to 9, and the VIP experience takes place from 5:30 to 7. General admission tickets cost $50; VIPs pay $150.
