Eggs on ’Roids

Technically Easter is the most important religious feast of the Christian calendar, but we all know it’s so much more than a celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Nothing against our main man J.C.; we’re just reminiscing about Easters of yore. Mom and Dad might have forced us to wear fancy duds and go to church, but we knew the day would be spent searching for eggs, devouring chocolate, and giving thanks and praise to the Easter Bunny. Sacrilegious? Perhaps. For better or worse, Easter is for da kids. If you’re looking for fun events for your little ones this weekend, we’ve got some tips that’ll make you hop for joy.

Looking for coveted prizes? The largest hunt in the city will take place at Jungle Island (1111 Parrot Jungle Trail, Miami), where 60,000 candy-and-prize-filled Easter eggs will be hidden throughout the sprawling and verdant paradise. Concealed among the regular treasures at this hunt on 'roids will be "golden eggs" that contain certificates for Nintendo Wii game systems. The three-day egg-stravaganza culminates today with a sumptuous brunch buffet served in the TreeTop Ballroom. Adult admission is $45; kids get in for $32. In Key Largo, Capt. Spencer Slate of the Atlantis Dive Center (MM 106.5, Oceanside, Key Largo) will host his annual underwater egg hunt among the coral reefs. At Miami Seaquarium, there’ll be lots of rabbit-related fun, hunts, prize giveaways, toys, and games taking place all weekend, each day from 10 to 4.
