To the sounds of the mildly irritating whistled anthem “Sweet Georgia Brown,” the Harlem Globetrotters will dribble, spin, and free-throw their way into town today at the American Airlines Arena as part of their 2008 “Magic as Ever” world tour. In true Globetrotter fashion, this isn’t exactly a tournament between teams, but rather an expo of crowd-pleasing tricks and comedy routines. Your favorite players will be there, such as ... er. Um, let’s think. You know, like ... wait, no.

You might not know any of the teammates by name (gee, it’s been more than 20 years since Curly and Meadowlark Lemon retired), but Globie the mascot will be there, and he’s said to spread the message of “peace and harmony.” Who doesn’t love that? Tickets start at $18 for a bird’s-eye view, and cap at $155 for courtside seats; click www.ticketmaster.com or call 305-358-5885. The event begins at 3 p.m.
