Chuckle Redemption

Snag a second chance for laughs with Mike Epps.

By Raina McLeod

Published on February 07, 2008

The last time comedian Mike Epps hit a Miami stage, we were too wasted to remember what happened. Did he or didn’t he discuss Martha Stewart’s incarceration and say, “They lockin’ old white cookbook bitches up!”? Ah well, this wouldn’t be the first time the hooch made us miss out on something. And just like many of the blacked-out one-night stands from our past, we’re getting a second crack at it. Epps is back to hand out some more laughs, and we’d like to think he’s coming to the James L. Knight Center just so we get a chance to sniggle and giggle at his craziness.

This time Epps -- the former Def Comedy Jam host, Ice Cube’s costar in Next Friday and Friday After Next, and the guy who brought the hip-hop to The Honeymooners -- is bringing talented up-and-comer Rickey Smiley to up the laugh factor. Smiley is widely known for his prank calls and impersonations, as well as his stint hosting BET’s Comicview, but after tonight’s show, he’ll just be known for making you laugh.
