Scott Turner Schofield shares his sexual evolution.

Scott Turner Schofield wasn’t always a man. Hence the title of his show, Becoming a Man in 127 Easy Steps, which opens tonight at the Carnival Center’s Studio Theater. 127 Steps features a series of monologues and anecdotes about Schofield’s life as a female-to-male transsexual, with some stories being lighthearted and funny, and others not so much. Since he can’t tell all 127 tales in one night, he offers the audience choices of which ones he will relate, creating a different show with each performance.

Schofield says his audiences are eager to participate, because transsexual topics inherently hold a certain level of fascination. “When you have a person who is in high heels and a dress but is seven feet tall and has an Adam’s apple,” he says, “you know there's a story there.” Heck yes. And we hope the story includes tips on how to find high-heel shoes for large feet; we’ve been looking for some. The Studio Theater is located in the back of the Ziff Ballet Opera House, 1300 Biscayne Blvd., Miami. The show runs tonight and tomorrow at 8 p.m.
Fri., Jan. 25, 8 p.m.; Sat., Jan. 26, 8 p.m., 2008
