A-Sides and Ewun

By Eric W. Saeger

Published on December 20, 2007

They'll be rinsin' the night away once again at Laundry Bar this Friday. Romford, England-based A-Sides — a.k.a. Jason Cambridge — headlines this drum 'n' bass night. One of the most prolific artists of the genre, he's been producing music since 1990 and has released over 500 tracks to date, mainly on his own label, Eastside Records. He broke wide in 2003, releasing his much-anticipated single "What U Don't Know," featuring vocals from MC Fats and Regina. That year he also released his first-ever solo album, Follow the Groove, which featured guest artists MC MC, J-Eye, and his Sci-Clone partner Nathan Haines.

Opening up the show is Rochester, New York's Ewun. His forthcoming EP, titled Wun Nation, is due out in early 2008 from indie drum 'n' bass/IDM label Evol Intent Recordings of Atlanta. The last time Ewun hit Laundry Bar was for the Renegade Hardware Party during the 2005 Winter Music Conference. "I had a great time," he says. "The place was the right sort of venue for d'n'b." What artists inspire him? "Any artist who makes an effort to put forth their best material, tries to push boundaries, and applies their imagination and creativity into every aspect of their music."
