For those of you feeling a bit sluggish lately, today is the day to get a much-needed adrenaline rush. At the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida Holiday Run, yours won’t be the only heart you’re saving. Head to the Palmetto Bay Village Center (18001 Old Cutler Rd., Palmetto Bay) for the 7 a.m. race. Participants can opt to run 5K or 15K. On the day of the race, fees are $25 for the 5K and $35 for the 15K. Call 305-278-8668, or visit www.runmiami.com.

If you prefer to satisfy your need for speed from the sidelines, check out the Miami Dragon Boat Club Challenge. At the Miami Marine Stadium (3501 Rickenbacker Cswy., Key Biscayne), 25 teams in dragon-theme boats will race for victory on a 1,000-meter water track. These serpents may not breathe flames, but the paddlers are the fire inside. The event takes place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and admission is free. Call 305-656-0902, or visit www.miamidragon.com.
