“In inches, in miles, in laughter, in strife. In 525,600 minutes -- how do you measure a year in the life?” So go the lyrics to “Seasons of Love,” one of the most famous songs from one of Broadway's most famous rock musicals, Rent -- and if you don't know that song yet, you soon will. It's coming to Miami for one weekend, and fans will sing it to you whether you want to hear it or not.

In terms of cult status, Rent is the Star Trek of musical theater, spawning annoyingly obsessed fans called “Rentheads,” who have almost turned the show into a religion, quoting lyrics like they are Gospel. But their devotion stems from the fact that the show is honestly very good -- the aforementioned “Seasons of Love” will get the number 525,600 wedged into your brain for days. Don't judge this show by the anemic and tawdry film version that whined its way through movie theaters in 2005; the live version is much better.
