Singing of the Rah-Rah Sisterhood

Have fun with the girls at Mama Lila’s Bistro

Ladies, it’s time to get over it. Stop saying all of your friends are guys because you don’t get along with other girls. Yes, you must be wary of backstabbing bitches, but then again, half of your male “friends” probably stick around ’cause they’d like to upgrade to a “with benefits” package. Fortunately the all-female collective She Said is flying the flag of sisterhood and putting an end to all of this girl-on-girl abuse.

In the 16-plus-member group, there’s no competition or cattiness -- just sweet music made by local female musicians of all different ages, ethnicities, and talents. Hear She Said play everything from Latin rhythms to folksy Americana tonight at the sister-owned Mama Lila’s Bistro for its Tunes and Tapas music series. This performance will feature group founder and blues goddess Michelle Forman with flutist Ligia Cabrera, bassist Ariadna Barbe-Villa, and drummer Nadedi Osorio (of A.K.A. fame). The show runs from 8:00 to 11:00. Admission is free, but there’s a $10 minimum check per person.
Thu., Oct. 18, 8-11 p.m., 2007
