If you’re like us, you remember when Wednesday nights used to be a time for commiserating with the kids from Beverly Hills, 90210 and the melodramatic residents of Melrose Place. But new episodes haven’t been on the air for years, and we’ve been trying to find a way to spend our precious time ever since. This week’s search for something to do on hump night -- the after-6:00 version of hump day -- has landed us in Aventura at Prezzo Restaurant and Martini Bar. This evening -- and every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night -- sultry R&B singer Donna Allen takes you to a place that doesn’t need addictive story lines.

Allen has toured with Gloria Estefan, lent background vocals to J.Lo and Shakira, and had songs of her own reach as high as number five on the Billboard charts in the Eighties. Tonight she’s going to hit you with a voice that whispers, belts, and hollers the words your soul needs to hear. The performance begins at 7:00, and there’s no cover.
