Mambo Meets Keyboard

This beautiful Sunday afternoon, rather than ending the weekend with a routine trudge through the madding crowd at the mall, or slowly pushing a cart around the grocery store, treat yourself to a concert you won’t soon forget. Tarde Cubana is the second of two incredible performances this weekend at the Miami-Dade County Auditorium featuring Enrique Chia, an incredibly accomplished pianist hailing from Cienfuegos, Cuba.

Chia’s hands create magical scenes as they dance across the keys, delivering everything from sensual tangos to riveting tropical mambos to unforgettable boleros. The maestro has been playing since the age of five, studied diligently at the Conservatory of Music in Havana, and has released 32 albums of musical masterpieces. No matter how much time passes since his departure from Cienfuegos, Chia continues to commemorate his homeland in music. The concert begins at 3:00 p.m., and admission ranges from $13 to $36. Tickets are available at the MDCA box office. Call Sociedad Pro Arte Grateli at 305-642-6935 or Miami-Dade County Auditorium at 305-547-5414, or visit www.ticketmaster.com.
Sun., Sept. 30, 3 p.m., 2007
