It’s a Jam Band Jamboree

There’s a lot of love among musicians in the Magic City. Really quite a lot. How much, you ask? So much that for the past three years, key players in some of our most groundbreaking bands spend their off time collaborating in an ongoing amorphous project known as Monkey Village -- and no, it has nothing to do with Metrozoo. Monkey Village is a freeform musical collective comprising assorted members of well-known acts, including Locos por Juana, Jesse Jackson, Suenalo Sound System, and Afrobeta. So far the industrious group has released 12 CD compilations.

To commemorate its 13th release, Phase III, the collective will be jamming out boundless grooves at Transit Lounge. Feeling creative? These local Monkeys would like your participation by way of dancing, revelry, and lyrical contributions. Add your words to the chorus at 11:00 p.m. Admission is free. Call 305-377-4628, or e-mail monkey.village@hotmail.com.
