Last year the seminal American progressive-house duo Deep Dish put the brakes on its collective work to pursue solo projects -- leaving fans to wonder how the heck theyd pop it and lock it to both Dubfires and Sharams divergent beats at the same time. While thats a feat for only the most technically inclined dance gurus -- just punch in Poppin Hyun Joon on YouTube for an example -- its not going to be an issue for dancers heading out to Club Space tonight. Thats because Ali D, or the Dub as we call im, is going to be rocking the decks with tracks from his latest mix CD, Taipei. Expect Dubfires retro and industrial-tinged remixes of songs from Ballroom and Nitzer Ebb to be highly danceable, especially in the cavernous clime of Space.
But if Dubfires trek back to SoFla isnt enough to get you lining up by the velvet ropes, maybe the return of Space resident Cedric Gervais will be. Miamis homegrown Frenchman (eyeroneek, oui?) spent the past few months touring the globe to promote Yoshitoshi Miami, which means the poor guy is probably a bit homesick. Be a good neighbor and welcome him back when he takes over the Space Terrace at 4:00 a.m. (Word is hell be spinning till the Burger King around the corner stops serving breakfast.) Tickets for the whole shebang cost $30. Visit www.clubspace.com.
