You Can Always Get What You WantIf its music and good times at the Upper Eastside GardenBy Patrice Elizabeth Grell YursikPublished on August 23, 2007 at 3:00amThe Upper Eastside Garden is known and loved for being a laid-back outdoor oasis where you can while away an afternoon with a piña colada and a game of putt-putt. But the garden has made a subtle transformation. The verdant playground is also a hell of a place for a party, and thanks to cool events and film screenings, this gardens a-rockin and everyones welcome to come a-knockin. Rock n Roll Summer kicked off August 16 and continues tonight with a screening of Gimme Shelter, the rock doc that captured the Rolling Stones infamous 1969 free concert at San Franciscos Altamont Speedway. This rare opportunity to see the Stones splashed on the big screen will remind us all of how young and fine Mick and Keith were once upon a time. The garden opens at 6:00 p.m., and tickets cost seven bucks, which includes picnic mats or seats in the garden, popcorn, and a drink.
