As we enter peak hurricane season, our restless surfer community happily anticipates the approaching storms. This kind of weather promises big waves, or “swells,” crashing against the shore. Miami is not exactly the wave capital of the world, but the city still has its share of surfers, many of whom are members of the Surfrider Foundation. This nonprofit, grassroots organization is dedicated to the protection and preservation of our world’s oceans, waves, and beaches. The South Florida chapter acts locally by organizing beach cleanups and other eco-friendly activities. Tonight they will be teaming up with Quiksilver for a prerelease screening of the movie Young Guns 3, featuring Quiksilver’s elite team of insane surfers tearing up waves all over the world.

Tonight’s event is a fundraiser, taking place at Miami Beach Botanical Garden. Wine, beer, and food will be served, and there will be a raffle with gift giveaways. Screenings take place at 8:00 and 10:00.
