Our Favorite Weekend Ritual

What is there not to love about brunch? It combines the best of breakfast and the most luscious of lunch and smooshes the disparate menus together in one magnificent celebration of eggs, steak, fruit, and fish, all washed down with a mimosa. You’d think this city would be overrun with fabulous brunch nooks. But nooooo. Despite the fabulous weather that makes Miami primo for alfresco dining, a good brunch can be hard to find. We had to do some sleuthing to find Miami’s yummiest brunches.

The grand buffet at Talula (210 23rd St., Miami Beach) is the stuff Sunday-afternoon dreams are made of. For $29 you can indulge in an all-you-can-eat fantasy that starts with eggs any way you want ’em and ends with a gigantic array of freshly baked pastries. Pay $45 and swig your way through unlimited mimosas or bloody marys. Brunch is served from 11:00 to 3:00. Reserve a table by calling 305-672-0778, or visit www.talulaonline.com. For a little bam! check out Emeril’s Miami Beach (at the Loews, 1601 Collins Ave., Miami Beach). There are Cajun-style dishes aplenty, plus the lengthy menu of “Sunday libations” that will make your afternoon slide by like a barge on the bayou. It’s served from 11:00 to 2:30. Call 305-695-4550. The oddly named Chocolate Fashion (248 Andalusia Ave., Coral Gables) is a neighborhood gem with pastries to die for. Brunch is served from 8:00 to 2:45, and reservations are recommended.
