Green Means Go

Forget rush hour, head to Soya y Pomodoro

It seems like every bar, restaurant, and corner store offers a happy hour. But few realize that overcooked hot wings and watered-down drinks do not a happy hour make. As a matter of fact, just thinking about that crap makes us kinda sad. But one of our favorite downtown restaurants, Soya y Pomodoro, is enticing us with a new happy hour, and this one actually paints a smile on our faces.

It’s called Beat Traffic, a name that commands us to eschew rush hour in the car for rush hour at the bar, so we can bob our heads to live music on a barstool instead of rocking to canned banter in the driver’s seat. Every Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., imported beers are two for five dollars, and glasses of wine are two for seven. Plus the tapas menu says nothing about baskets of Costco hot wings. Now we’re happy.
Fridays, 4-7 p.m., 2007
