Cooking with Gas

The Battle of the Chefs heats up

We love cooking up something fun and different to do during the workweek. On the menu today is part three of the Battle of the Chefs Summer Series. The ingredients: two chefs from renowned downtown Coral Gables restaurants, a bag of mystery ingredients, a state-of-the-art competition kitchen, and a panel of judgmental Miamians. And then the battle: knives a-chopping, breasts of chicken a-searing, sweat beads a-dripping. So far this summer tons of people have turned up at La Cuisine to witness the broiling, baking, and basting firsthand.

“Chefs Chris and Willy led a fun and friendly second competition for a great cause,” says Mari Molina, executive director of the Business Improvement District of Coral Gables. “Not only were we able to highlight two great Gables restaurants, but we’ve successfully generated buzz throughout the community for the upcoming battles.” Tonight’s 7:00 battle will feature Cindy Hutson from Ortanique on the Mile and Adam Votaw of Chispa in a Latin-theme showdown. Admission is free, but a $15 suggested donation will benefit CHARLEE Homes for Children.
Wed., July 25, 7 p.m.
