God Bless You, and Fido Too

While you’ve been trying to teach an old dog new tricks – ahem, “stay” -- the animal has been checking out every palm tree on the block, even lifting his leg on the plastic ones. Although some animals can’t be tamed, it’s nice to be able to come home to a domesticated furry friend. If it can’t be done through obedience school, consider taking your pet to the first Animal & Pet Blessing at First United Methodist Church of Miami.

Fido won’t be receiving the sacrament alone. Three horses from the Mounted Patrol of the City of Miami, the City of Miami Fire Department station dog, and the church’s unofficial mascot – the courtyard squirrel -- will all be blessed. Cosponsor Petco will provide pet treats and coupons, a pet adoption area, an abundance of water for the beasties, and refreshments for their humans. Today at 1:30 p.m., pet owners of all faiths are welcome.
Sat., July 14, 1:30 p.m.
