Visual French Kiss

Say oui, oui to art at the Alliance Française

Some of us have a special affinity for all things French. Who doesn’t love a perfectly positioned jaunty beret or the way the language makes obscenities ring like romantic poetry? And much like we have done with the French fry and French toast and, hell, the French martini, we have taken Alliance Française de Miami into our hearts and, with our awkward pronunciation, given it some U.S. of A.-style love.

As one of the main local sources of French lifestyle and culture, Alliance Française is always giving us one more thing to love about the City of Light. This time it’s printmaker, photographer, and painter Jo Loignon’s exhibit “Linear Fields.” It’s a collection of drawings, photo transfers, acrylics, and oils that employs simple lines, circles, and a rich color palette to create compositions that exude energy and spirit. From 7:00 to 10:00 p.m., you can meet the artist in a Parisian-style gallery opening.
