Ready, Set, Cook!

Night after night, the hundreds of restaurants in the Magic City compete for your hard-earned dollars. On Ocean Drive they harass you as you walk by, while in other parts of the city, they use a slightly gentler touch and coerce you with tantalizing aromas and to-die-for decor. In Coral Gables they have the Battle of the Chefs Summer Series, where local chefs are put into head-to-head culinary combat. This contest proves who can take the heat and who should stay the hell out of the kitchen. And today in the competition kitchen of La Cuisine Gourmet, chefs Jeff Haskell of City Cellar Wine Bar & Grill and Ryan Del Re’ of Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse will face off.

“Our vision when creating the Battle of the Chefs 2007 Summer Series was to make it as entertaining and lively as possible. We want to celebrate Gables dining and our featured chefs in a friendly and entertaining competition,” says Mari Molina, executive director of the Business Improvement District of Coral Gables.
