Sweat for charity at Local Motion

Tragedies are meant to be mourned, but in some instances, they also inspire action. For Loscar Rodriguez, a.k.a. DJ Solo, the loss of several relatives to cancer motivated him to quit smoking and start up Local Motion, an electro party benefitting the American Cancer Society. Last year’s event raised $2500, and he hopes to top that this year. “This is my way of helping out and doing something positive. My goal is to hopefully raise a little bit more money than last year,” says Rodriguez.

Starting at 8:00 p.m. you can dance for a good cause at Oxygen Lounge, in the subterranean level of the Mayfair. There will be a live performance by Carl Finlow and tag team DJ sets by the Geishaz featuring Medly, Lady T, and 2Sweet, Hydraulix featuring Ash Rock and Jimi the Genius, Sieze and Solo, and more. From 8:00 to 9:30 the cover is five dollars, and increases by five dollars every hour thereafter until capping out at $25 after 12:30 a.m.
Sat., May 26, 8-9:30 p.m.
