Dance Dance Education

The Maria Verdeja School of the Arts is celebrating its twentieth birthday this year — almost legal, girls! Over the past two decades the school has taught bushels of little girls to dance; little girls who grew up to be women that embarrass you on the dance floor. And tonight will be a celebration of all students, past and present. Students from ages four to eighteen will grace the stage in rich, ornate costumes that will turn the Gusman Center for the Performing Arts into a rainbow of talent.

And if you can’t be lured by the promise of a kaleidoscope of colors, maybe you’ll be enticed by the thought of watching flamenco, or classical ballet, or hip-hop, or jazz dance. Because the girls will be performing all of those and more, and they’ll be doing them well — no two left feet here, only perfect pairs of rights and lefts, moving in unison.
Sun., May 20, 6 p.m.
