A Wave of Women

Miami Beach is celebrated as a mecca for hot women. On any given Saturday there are throngs of babes in thongs sunning themselves on the sand. Sorry boys, this weekend many of the ladies won’t be waiting for you and your awkward come-ons. In fact most of them will only have eyes for each other. The hugely popular Aqua Girl fundraising weekend will be going on from Thursday, May 10, to Sunday, May 13, bringing thousands of charity-minded lesbians together to celebrate here in Miami.

“We’re a true grassroots event that is here to not only bring a great party to the community, but also to empower and educate. We’ve got women coming in from Denmark, London, South America, Mexico, and Canada!” boasts Alison Burgos, founder and president of the board of directors for the extremely popular all-girl event. The Aqua Girl organizing committee has gone the extra mile to make sure that there’s an event for everyone this year. Besides the nonstop parade of parties, this year there will be a grrl rock concert, a jazz brunch, comedy by Rene Hicks, and a special kayaking excursion. The sapphic celebration wraps up today from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. with the Aqualicious Tea party at South Seas, and Afterglow, the closing party, from 7:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. at Rain, 323 23rd St., Miami Beach.
