Cooking con Gusto

Some people approach cooking with as much passion as their first love. Then there are the rest of us, who use smoke detectors to signal when dinner is ready. No matter what category you fall into, there’s a Latin-flavored cooking class for you today. Sip margaritas over grilled carne asada with tomatillo salsa, and learn how to whip up these Mexican delicacies at the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta class at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. The one-session class takes place tonight from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., and costs $65. Visit www.fairchildgarden.org. Today’s paella class at Theine Tea Salon (Madeira Ave., Coral Gables) will reveal the secrets to irresistible, traditional Valencian paella with rabbit, seafood, and fideua. The class is held from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m., and costs $55. Call 305-774-0228, or visit www.theineteasalon.com. The registration deadline for both events is April 20.
