If you once dreamed of having a green thumb (before you realized that it often comes along with a brown fingernail), perhaps it's best to leave the horticulture to the pros and observe from afar. There's a lot for constantly aspiring gardners to admire this weekend at the 62nd Miami International Orchid Show. The local event is the largest exhibiting orchid show and sale in the country. From today through Sunday, the Sheraton Miami Mart Hotel and Convention Center will be pleasantly overgrown with orchid displays produced by both professionals and amateurs. The show blooms on Thursday, March 1, with a preview reception and sale from 7:30 to 10:00 p.m. Admission for the sneak peek costs $50. Today the show will be open to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
