I have a confession. Sometimes, at 8:00 p.m., I turn to the Food Network and watch Emeril Live. I know, I know -- all that bam-ming can grate on your last nerve. But theres something magical about Emeril at work, and watching the audience groan and grin like idiots can be irresistible. One thing ol Em doesnt do, though, is let the audience sprinkle a little essenceover their own plates. Thats why the Cooking Demos at La Cuisine Gourmetare worth a night off the couch every Wednesday. This weeks demo is led by star chef Michael Schwartz of the soon-to-open Michaels Genuine Food & Drink in the Design District, and unlike certain TV chefs, hes going to let participants participate. I want to help people get more connected to the food than just watching me work. Ill let them shape the pasta, cut it, roll it out, the charming Schwartz says. His three-course demo begins at 7:00 p.m. No bam-ming allowed.
