Support Imbeciles

It's not often you're handed the opportunity to receive some express dentistry while giving to charity.

Spikefest is a gig to benefit Dirty Rotten Imbeciles guitarist Spike Cassidy, whose recent colon cancer diagnosis (and possible metastasis) eighty-sixed a 2006 tour. While on forced hiatus from D.R.I., drummer Rob Rampy has power-vomited (don't you miss bodily function metaphors?) a barrage of studio tunes with the Sickboyz that's on par with what the punk-age mosh rats grew to know and love in the halcyon crossover days of Anthrax panting after D.R.I. — a star-crossed romance that never got the full blessing of Maximum Rock 'n' Roll wonks, who stood with arms folded, shaking their heads and praying for it all to end in a folding-chair-flinging smackdown of chrome-domes and spiked wristbands. Would that similarly outraged purists surface from the current morass to spank emo into oblivion once and for all, but ya can't have everything.

Spikefest, featuring Sickboyz, begins at 8:00 p.m. Saturday, November 4, at Churchill's Pub, 5501 NE Second Ave., Miami. Admission is ten dollars. Call 305-757-1807 for more information. Eric W. Saeger
