One way to beat the heat is to simply embrace it and face the killer rays and humidity head-on – just be sure to stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water, wear light clothing, and leave your heavy wallet at home, because it won’t cost you a dime to sweat among the greenery at the Free Sundays at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens today from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Besides moseying around the gardens, you can take part in a myriad of activities -- from storytelling to flamenco dancing, arts and crafts to orchid potting -- and even peruse vintage cars from the early 1900s. And if you are not familiar with this National Historic Landmark, you can wander through the Vizcaya Village, view historic film and photography, and seek insight from volunteers who will be happy to bend your ear.
