L.A. Glory

Maybe it’s the classic cursive blue logo. Or the legendary names -- Roy Campanella, Sandy Koufax, Pee Wee Reese, Jackie Robinson, Duke Snider -- of seasons past. Or the embellished nostalgia of the days of yore in Brooklyn. Or the eternal spirit of Tommy Lasorda. Whatever causes it, there is certainly something pure and classic about the Dodgers. Players such as Jason Repko, Nomar Garciaparra, and rookie Andre Ethier make the foundering Dodgers interesting at least as they struggle through the sort of slump the Marlins were in the first third of this season. The fans in L.A. are letting the team have it -- calling for the firing of manager Grady Little (“a loss machine”), ridiculing players like J.D. Drew (“an out machine”), and taking the animation out of anyone else who is struggling. All of which makes this 7:35 p.m. Marlins game something of an even matchup. Tickets range from $6 to $90. Dolphin Stadium is located at 2269 Dan Marino Blvd., Miami Gardens. Call 1-877-MARLINS, or visit florida.marlins.mlb.com.
