A Demon on Wheels

Having driven in cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Boston, we can honestly say Miami has the worst drivers. They may not know how to use a turn signal or stop at a red light, but they sure know how to lay on the bone-rattling train horn if someone pauses for a quarter-second when the light turns green. (We were waiting for all those red-light-runners, okay, Big Billy, in your big-ass truck?) For those who insist on treating the Venetian Causeway as if it were the Talladega Superspeedway, we suggest you live out your NASCAR dreams at this weekend’s Rev It Up Racing 2006 presented by Chevrolet. Today and Sunday, drivers eighteen and older can enroll in a performance racing school and compete for a chance to race at the national championship for a new Chevy Cobalt SS Supercharged Coupe. Freakin’ awesome, dude! There will also be plenty of activities -- including go-carting and exhibits -- for your friends who don’t have the need for speed. The gates open at 7:00 a.m. at Hialeah Park Racetrack. Admission is free for spectators; registration for drivers costs $50. If you want to get your motor running, register early to reserve your spot. Call 800-958-1748, or visit www.revitupracing.com.
