Rock Out with Your Art Out

Submitted for your consideration: several rock stars, one restaurant/casino chain, a good cause, and enough dramatic irony to make Rod Serling crack a smile. Rock and roll is a funny little industry that sells not music but attitude. Sometimes, though, the attitude gets in the way of business. For instance, it recently leaked out that the Hard Rock in Las Vegas had allegedly removed an obscene, antiwar message that Kurt Cobain had scrawled across his old guitar. Defacing a defaced guitar. Who’s the rebel now, hmmm? On the other hand, sometimes business gets in the way of attitude. No matter how horrified you might be at the Cobain story, how can you say no to the Classic Rock Art Show and Sale at the Seminole Hard Rock (1 Seminole Way, Hollywood) when you know that a portion of the proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation? On display and for sale are photographs, artwork, and other memorabilia from the likes of the Beatles, the Who, the Grateful Dead, the Doors, Hendrix, Dylan, Bowie, Tom Petty, and dozens more. Admission is free, especially if you’re a bikini-clad lady.
Sat., July 15, noon-midnight; Sun., July 16, noon-midnight
