Chianti, Croquetas, and Cachao

The Leiter Gallery is a three-month-old baby in Miami’s bustling art scene. But if the owners have their way, this two-story space will soon be the anchor of a revived Biscayne Boulevard, offering fabulous food and drink, incredible art, and a constant source of inspired entertainment for a hip and happening crowd. Adjacent to the fabulous Uva 69, Leiter is the pet project of co-owners Jesus Rojas, Ben Abounassif, and Sinuhé Vega, whose deliciously ripe oil paintings are displayed to succulent advantage on the gallery’s second floor.

The downstairs section is entirely devoted to the current exhibit, “Cachao and Friends.” Carl Phillipe Juste’s stunning photographs capture a legend at work in the recording studio, illuminated in such a way that his upright bass glows like an instrument of the gods. “Juste said the ideal place for his exhibition is the Leiter Gallery, because we have an eclectic, local crowd, perfect for his work,” explains Rojas. Browse a promising new artistic haven today from noon to 6:00 p.m. The current exhibit will be displayed until July 31. Call 305-494-9066.
