If you've never completely gotten over that fourth-grade spelling bee you lost because you misspelled erroneous, now is the time to redeem yourself. This is not your run-of-the-mill elementary school competition, though. You are an adult, and things must be done the grown-up way -- with alcohol. The first Sunday of every month Purdy Lounge hosts Spelling Bee. Contestant take a shot of Jägermeister for every word they spell correctly. The winner receives a $50 bar tab, which may have to cover their friends’ drinks if the battle of the smarty-pants goes beyond the tenth round. Sign up by 10:00, start spelling at 11:00, and try not to keel over by midnight. The event caps at fifteen contestants. If English was never your strong point, kick back and enjoy the assorted drink specials. Call 305-531-4622, or visit www.purdylounge.com.
